My Bands
I'm currently involved with three main music projects - but I'm always interested in working with new and interesting musicians - my taste is very broad, but definitely favours grooves, jazz, and improvisation. Examples of my solo recordings can be found here - have a listen and let me know what you think.
Paula Rae Gibson
This sublime and powerful singer is also a photographer and filmmaker - she's recorded two superb albums No More Tiptoes (33Jazz) and Maybe Too Nude (Babel). I'm working with her new trio that also includes amazing keyboardist Tom Pilling and talented young drummer Sophie Alloway. We're recording her new album soon - I'll post more details as the music comes together - but you can listen to her music here.
Ludomix / Cheb Nacim
An amazing and powerful mix of Rai music with funk, rock, Latin and folk influences, this is a serious live band. We've played at festivals in Victoria Park, RISE in Finsbury Park as well as at venues such as the now defunct Spitz and the Notting Hill Arts Club and Momos. We've recently been collaborating with the finest London-based Rai singer Cheb Nacim - we have a big gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on September 6th 2008
Groove Digger
My new 7-piece funk band is made up of some of London's best jazz musicians all on a mission to bring the funk far and wide! It's a great band that is both perfect for club gigs or high class functions - playing tight horn-led originals or classics from the JBs, Stevie and the Crusaders - it's all good.
