Sei Bass Single Cut Series 1
This
is my Sei bass - a Series One Single Cut made by the brilliant Martin Petersen at
the Bass Gallery - it's turned out better than I could have hoped for - that's not
to say I doubted Martin's abilities - it's just that he's
surpassed them! See more pics here...
Jeff Chapman Custom Fretless 5 Gallery
|Made
by amazing Brighton-based luthier Jeff Chapman -
and inspired by and based Franc O'Shea's wonderful
original Tobias Classic - this is my fretless 5 string. Made
from a single
piece of African mahogany, with an ebony fingerboard, with
Thuya burr pickup covers - it's a very unique bass with a
totally unique sound. There are several examples of this
on my Myspace page here - it's a truly beautiful bass and
sounds and plays as good as it looks.
The amazing part of this bass's histroy is that Jeff spotted the piece of mahogany
when it was being thrown away from its previous life as a shelf in a school!
It's a safe bet this piece of wood was aged for several decades and as such is
extremely well seasoned and bone dry - which is reflected in its amazing warm
tone. More pics here...
Epifani
UL502 Amp
My
main rig is now an incredible Epifani UL502 amp. Used
by Matt Garrison and Anothony
Jackson among many other top players this amp
is just perfect for bringing out the mid tones in a very
musical way without sounding
'forced' - perfect for fingerstyle, which I now favour
over slapping. Unlike some other amps when the mid tones
can sound muddy
and
have
very
little
'air'
in the
sound
- this amp lets the sound
breathe as well as delivering an awesomely focused tone,
and with 600watts in a small but perfectly formed amp. I run this through an Epifani UL210 cab, the all-Epifani sound is wonderful, rich, warm and with some bite too, for me this has been my ultimate bass set and work wonderfully with both my basses.

SWR
Baby Baby Blue
This is a brilliant little amp - the 1x10 kicks out a very serious sounding 120watts
and has a really lovely hi-fi quality sound - I'd strongly recommend you try
one if you are looking for a sturdy, postable combo that is very easy to transport
in a taxi, tube or even the bus - I've done the lot!
My current pedals include - the Boss RC2 Loop station:

EBS BassIQ Auto Wah

EBS UniChorus

EBS Wah One
