I
finally got my bass - a little over year after it was ordered
- and it's well, exceptional. I'll take some much better pics
soon - the lighting in these is rubbish! The lighting in my hallway just doesn't
do the Buckeye justice - these are just temporary pics!!!
It's great to play,
really easy to slide all over the board and it really sounds
killing - I've made a crappy Youtube video here of me testing her out - but if you
can't be bothered with that just enjoy the pics below - much better ones coming
soon I promise.
Series
II Single Cut Sei Bass 5 string Build Page
This is my Sei build page as I'm in the process of
waiting for Martin
Petersen at the
Bass Gallery to
make me one of his stunning bass guitars - it's
getting near completion now with roughly 10 months
build time but as you can see from the latest pics
below the wait has been more than worth it - and
the bass has turned out better than I could have
hoped for - that's not to say I doubted Martin's
abilities - it's just that he's already surpassed
them! The specifications are as follows:
33" Scale
Madagascar Ebony Board
26 Frets
Maple neck with Mahogany stringers
Ash body
Buckeye Burl top wood - front and back
Demeter circuit
Nordstrand pups
Ramp
Piezo Bridge (Ghost system)
Red LEDs on side of neck
Black Hardware
Active/passive capability
Gloss finish... !

Finally back from the finishers - the
bass is looking unbelievably gorgeous - it's
all coming together beautifully - and look at the that
buckeye top! Damn - it's exceeded my expectations... .

The fingerboard is on! It's a beautiful
piece of Madagascar ebony...and it
has 26 frets on too, plus dinky LEDs down the topside
- pics of those soon
The bass has been sanded into a better
shape now but will go through a further 'fine' sanding
stage before being sent to the finishers - which will
be happening very soon.
The buckeye burl will look amazing when the finish
is on - it looks wicked right now too.
Ooooo,
sexy back!
The headstock and back of the neck have been sanded
some more and shaped.
A rubbish picture but it shows the bass is very
compact, the 33" scale means it looks a tiny bit
shorter than your average bass but it's amazing
what a difference it makes in terms of how close
the 1st fret feels - good for those long grooves
in the low end...
