Sei Jazz Bass 4 String

Martin and the guys from the Gallery had been over at NAMM in January and came back with a few pieces of rare and exotic woods - and I'm very pleased to say that I got the last piece of the absolutely mind blowing bit of American spalted maple... Martin said that he thought it was one of the nicest pieces he'd ever acquired. So I am utterly thrillied about that. As you'll see from the specs below it's pretty much a 'standard' J bass with an ash body and maple neck - I'm still undecided on the elctronics - though I'm really interested in the John East preamp - and the only pups I was recommended earlier that might be worth a shot are the Fender Custom Shop ones - but hey I'm open to suggestions:

4 string
24 fret maple neck - bolt on.
Birdseye maple fingerboard
Ash body
Absolutely stunning American spalted maple top
Ramp with top wood on it
Red LEDs along top side of finger board.
Abalone markers on the board
Black hardware
Bridge TBC
Electronics TBC
J bass Pickups TBC
Hipshot D-tuner
Full spalted maple facing on the headstock with Sei Bass 'curve' design.

She's finished... full details on how the bass feels, plays and sounds in due course - here's the first batch of pics - I'll take some better ones soon - and some more of my Single Cut as well.

Couple of pics of the neck now with frets on - the finsh is silky smooth and just wonderful - the body will be off to the finishers on Monday, so once that is done (in a couple of months) the end will be in sight...

Just a couple of the headstock with the varnish on - it will be a matt finish in the end so it's being done in the workshop instead of at the finishers... but check out how gorgeous the spalted maple looks under that vanish - the body will look sick!
